After the reading of a brief portion of Holy Scripture, let the Head of the House-hold, or some other member of the family, lead those present, all kneeling, in saying the Lord's Prayer.
OUR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
HAIL Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and in the hour of our death. Amen.
O LORD, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Here may be added any special Prayers.
THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.
Morning Prayer
The Master or Mistress having called together as many of the Family as can conveniently be present, let one of them, or any other who may be appointed, say as followeth, all kneeling, and repeating with him the Lord's Prayer.
Amen.
Here may follow the Collect for the day.
Acknowledgement of God's Mercy and Preservation, especially through the Night past.
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being; We, thy needy creatures, render thee our humble praises, for thy preservation of us from the beginning of our lives to this day, and especially for having delivered us from the dangers of the past night. For these thy mercies, we bless and magnify thy glorious Name; humbly beseeching thee to accept this our morning sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; for his sake who lay down in the grave, and rose again for us, thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Dedication of Soul and Body to God's Service, with a Resolution to be growing daily in Goodness.
AND since it is of thy mercy, O gracious Father, that another day is added to our lives; We here dedicate both our souls and bodies to thee and thy service, in a sober, righteous, and godly life: in which resolution, do thou, O merciful God, confirm and strengthen us; that, as we grow in age, we may grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer for Grace to enable us to perform that Resolution.
BUT, O God, who knowest the weakness and corruption of our nature, and the manifold temptations which we daily meet with; We humbly beseech thee to have compassion on our infirmities, and to give us the constant assistance of thy Holy Spirit; that we may be effectually restrained from sin, and incited to our duty. Imprint upon our hearts such a dread of thy judgements, and such a grateful sense of thy goodness to us, as may make us both afraid and ashamed to offend thee. And, above all, keep in our minds a lively remembrance of that great day, in which we must give a strict account of our thoughts, words, and actions to him whom thou hast appointed the Judge of quick and dead, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For Grace to guide and keep us the following Day, and for God's Blessing on the business of the Same.
IN particular, we implore thy grace and protection for the ensuing day. Keep us temperate in all things, and diligent in our serveral callings. Grant us patience under our afflictions. Give us grace to be just and upright in all our dealings; quiet and peaceable; full of compassion; and ready to do good to all men, according to our abilities and opportunities. Direct us in all our ways. Defend us from all dangers and adversities; and be graciously pleased to take us, and all who are dear to us, under thy fatherly care and protection. These things, and whatever else thou shalt see to be neccessary and convenient to us, we humbly beg, through the merits and mediation of thy Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.
THE Grace + of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.
UNTO thee, O LORD, will I lift up my soul; my God, I have put my trust in thee: * O let me not be confounded, neither let mine enemies triumph over me.
2For all they that hope in thee shall not be ashamed; * but such as transgress without a cause shall be put to confusion.
3Show me thy ways, O LORD, * and teach me thy paths.
4Lead me forth in thy truth, and learn me: * for thou art the God of my salvation; in thee hath been my hope all the day long.
5Call to remembrance, O LORD, thy tender mercies, * and thy loving-kindnesses, which have been ever of old.
6O remember not the sins and offences of my youth; * but according to thy mercy think thou upon me, O LORD, for thy goodness.
7Gracious and righteous is the LORD; * therefore, will he teach sinners in the way.
8Them that are meek shall he guide in judgment; * and such as are gentle, them shall he learn his way.
9All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, * unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
10For thy Name's sake, O LORD, * be merciful unto my sin; for it is great.
11What man is he that feareth the LORD? * him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
12His soul shall dwell at ease, * and his seed shall inherit the land.
13The secret of the LORD is among them that fear him; * and he will show them his covenant.
14Mine eyes are ever looking unto the LORD; * for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
15Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; * for I am desolate, and in misery.
16The sorrows of my heart are enlarged: * O bring thou me out of my troubles.
17Look upon my adversity and misery, * and forgive me all my sin.
18Consider mine enemies, how many they are; * and they bear a tyrannous hate against me.
19O keep my soul, and deliver me: * let me not be confounded, for I have put my trust in thee.
20Let perfectness and righteous dealing wait upon me; * for my hope hath been in thee.
21Deliver Israel, O God, * out of all his troubles.
BE thou my Judge, O LORD, for I have walked innocently: * my trust hath been also in the LORD, therefore shall I not fall.
2Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; * try out my reins and my heart.
3For thy loving-kindness is ever before mine eyes; * and I will walk in thy truth.
4I have not dwelt with vain persons; * neither will I have fellowship with the deceitful.
5I have hated the congregation of the wicked; * and will not sit among the ungodly.
6I will wash my hands in innocency, O LORD; * and so will I go to thine altar;
7That I may show the voice of thanksgiving, * and tell of all thy wondrous works.
8LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, * and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
9O shut not up my soul with the sinners, * nor my life with the blood-thirsty;
10In whose hands is wickedness, * and their right hand is full of gifts.
11But as for me, I will walk innocently: * O deliver me, and be merciful unto me.
12My foot standeth right: * I will praise the LORD in the congregations.

Here may follow the Collect for the day.
* Here let him who reads make a short pause, that every one may secretly confess the sins and failings of that day.
Confession of Sins, with a Prayer for Contrition and Pardon.
MOST merciful God, who art of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, and hast promised forgiveness to all those who confess and forsake their sins; We come before thee in an humble sense of our own unworthiness, acknowledging our manifold transgressions of they righteous laws.* But, O gracious Father, who desirest not the death of a sinner, look upon us, we beseech thee, in mercy, and forgive us all our transgressions. Make us deeply sensible of the great evil of them; and work in us an hearty contrition; that we may obtain forgiveness at thy hands, who art ever ready to receive humble and penitent sinners; for the sake of thy Son Jesus Christ, our only Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.
Prayer for Grace to reform and grow Better.
AND lest, through our own fraility, or the temptations which encompass us, we be drawn again into sin, vouchsafe us, we beseech thee, the direction and assistance of thy Holy Spirit. Reform whatever is amiss in the temper and disposition of our souls; that no unclean thoughts, unlawful designs, or inordinate desires, may rest there. Purge our hearts from envy, hatred, and malice; that we may never suffer the sun to go down upon our wrath; but may always go to our rest in peace, charity, and good-will, with a conscience void of offence towards thee, and towards men; that so we may be preserved pure and blameless, unto the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
The Intercession.
AND accept, O Lord, our intercessions for all mankind. Let the light of thy Gospel shine upon all nations; and may as many as have received it, live as becomes it. Be gracious unto thy Church; and grant that every member of the same, in his vocation and ministry, may serve thee faithfully. Bless all in authority over us; and so rule their hearts and strengthen their hands, that they may punish wickedness and vice, and maintain thy true religion and virtue. Send down thy blessings, temporal and spiritual, upon all our relations, friends, and neighbours. Reward all who have done us good, and pardon all those who have done or wish us evil, and give them repentance and better minds. Be merciful to all who are in any trouble; and do thou, the God of pity, administer to them according to their several necessities; for his sake who went about doing good, thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
The Thanksgiving.
TO our prayers, O Lord, we join our unfeigned thanks, for all thy mercies; for our being, our reason, and all other endowments and faculties of soul and body; for our health, friends, food, and raiment, and all the other comforts and conveniences of life. Above all, we adore thy mercy in sending thy only Son into the world, to redeem us from sin and eternal death, and in giving us the knowledge and sense of our duty towards thee. We bless thee for thy patience with us, notwithstanding our many and great provocations; for all the directions, assistances, and comforts of thy Holy Spirit; for thy continual care and watchful providence over us through the whole course of our lives; and particularly for the mercies and benefits of the past day; beseeching thee to continue these thy blessings to us, and to give us grace to show our thankfulness in a sincere obedience to his laws, through whose merits and intercession we received them all, thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer for God's Protection through the Night following.
IN particular, we beseech thee to continue thy gracious protection to us this night. Defend us from all dangers and mischiefs, and from the fear of them; that we may enjoy such refreshing sleep as may fit us for the duties of the coming day. And grant us grace always to live in such a state that we may never be afraid to die; so that, living and dying, we may be thine, through the merits and satisfaction of thy Son Christ Jesus, in whose Name we offer up these our imperfect prayers. Amen.
THE Grace + of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.
On Sundays, and on other days when it may be convenient, it will be proper to begin with a Chapter, or part of a Chapter, from the New Testament.
THE LORD is my light and my salvation; whom then shall I fear? * the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid?
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, * they stumbled and fell.
3Though an host of men were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid; * and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in him.
4One thing have I desired of the LORD, which I will require; * even that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the fair beauty of the LORD, and to visit his temple.
5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; * yea, in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me, and set me up upon a rock of stone.
6And now shall he lift up mine head * above mine enemies round about me.
7Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an oblation, with great gladness: * I will sing and speak praises unto the LORD.
8Hearken unto my voice, O LORD, when I cry unto thee; * have mercy upon me, and hear me.
9My heart hath talked of thee, Seek ye my face: * Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
10O hide not thou thy face from me, * nor cast thy servant away in displeasure.
11Thou hast been my succour; * leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
12When my father and my mother forsake me, * the LORD taketh me up.
13Teach me thy way, O LORD, * and lead me in the right way, because of mine enemies.
14Deliver me not over into the will of mine adversaries: * for there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such as speak wrong.
15I should utterly have fainted, * but that I believe verily to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
16O tarry thou the LORD’S leisure; * be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart; and put thou thy trust in the LORD.
UNTO thee will I cry, O LORD, my strength: * think no scorn of me; lest, if thou make as though thou hearest not, I become like them that go down into the pit.
2Hear the voice of my humble petitions, when I cry unto thee; * when I hold up my hands towards the mercy-seat of thy holy temple.
3O pluck me not away, neither destroy me with the ungodly and wicked doers, * which speak friendly to their neighbours, but imagine mischief in their hearts.
4Reward them according to their deeds, * and according to the wickedness of their own inventions.
5Recompense them after the work of their hands; * pay them that they have deserved.
6For they regard not in their mind the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands; * therefore shall he break them down, and not build them up.
7Praised be the LORD; * for he hath heard the voice of my humble petitions.
8The LORD is my strength, and my shield; my heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped; * therefore my heart danceth for joy, and in my song will I praise him.
9The LORD is my strength, * and he is the wholesome defence of his anointed.
10O save thy people, and give thy blessing unto thine inheritance: * feed them, and set them up for ever.
