God The Judge

Psalm 1 Beatus vir qui non abiit.

BLESSED is the man that hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, * and hath not sat in the seat of the scornful.

2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; * and in his law will he exercise himself day and night.

3And he shall be like a tree planted by the water-side, * that will bring forth his fruit in due season.

4His leaf also shall not wither; * and look, whatsoever he doeth, it shall prosper.

5As for the ungodly, it is not so with them; * but they are like the chaff, which the wind scattereth away from the face of the earth.

6Therefore the ungodly shall not be able to stand in the judgment, * neither the sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

7But the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous; * and the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 7 Domine, Deus meus.

O LORD my God, in thee have I put my trust: * save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me;

2Lest he devour my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, * while there is none to help.

3O LORD my God, if I have done any such thing; * or if there be any wickedness in my hands;

4If I have rewarded evil unto him that dealt friendly with me; * (yea, I have delivered him that without any cause is mine enemy;)

5Then let mine enemy persecute my soul, and take me; * yea, let him tread my life down upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust.

6Stand up, O LORD, in thy wrath, and lift up thyself, because of the indignation of mine enemies; * arise up for me in the judgment that thou hast commanded.

7And so shall the congregation of the peoples come about thee: * for their sakes therefore lift up thyself again.

8The LORD shall judge the peoples: give sentence with me, O LORD, * according to my righteousness, and according to the innocency that is in me.

13If a man will not turn, he will whet his sword; * he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

14He hath prepared for him the instruments of death; * he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.

15Behold, the ungodly travaileth with iniquity; * he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

16He hath graven and digged up a pit, * and is fallen himself into the destruction that he made for other.

17For his travail shall come upon his own head, * and his wickedness shall fall on his own pate.

18I will give thanks unto the LORD, according to his righteousness; * and I will praise the Name of the LORD Most High.

Psalm 11 In Domino confido.

IN the LORD put I my trust; * how say ye then to my soul, that she should flee as a bird unto the hill?

7The LORD of hosts is with us; * the God of Jacob is our refuge.

8O come hither, and behold the works of the LORD, * what destruction he hath brought upon the earth.

9He maketh wars to cease in all the world; * he breaketh the bow, and knappeth the spear in sunder, and burneth the chariots in the fire.

10Be still then, and know that I am God: * I will be exalted among the nations, and I will be exalted in the earth.

11The LORD of hosts is with us; * the God of Jacob is our refuge.

17Whereas thou hatest to be reformed, * and hast cast my words behind thee?

18When thou sawest a thief, thou consentedst unto him; * and hast been partaker with the adulterers.

19Thou hast let thy mouth speak wickedness, * and with thy tongue thou hast set forth deceit.

20Thou sattest and spakest against thy brother; * yea, and hast slandered thine own mother's son.

21These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue, and thou thoughtest wickedly, that I am even such a one as thyself; * but I will reprove thee, and set before thee the things that thou hast done.

4For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, * and as a watch in the night.

5As soon as thou scatterest them they are even as a sleep; * and fade away suddenly like the grass.

6In the morning it is green, and groweth up; * but in the evening it is cut down, dried up, and withered.

7For we consume away in thy displeasure, * and are afraid at thy wrathful indignation.

8Thou hast set our misdeeds before thee; * and our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

9For when thou art angry all our days are gone: * we bring our years to an end, as it were a tale that is told.

10The days of our age are threescore years and ten; and though men be so strong that they come to fourscore years, * yet is their strength then but labour and sorrow; so soon passeth it away, and we are gone.

12So teach us to number our days, * that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

13Turn thee again, O LORD, at the last, * and be gracious unto thy servants.

14O satisfy us with thy mercy, and that soon: * so shall we rejoice and be glad all the days of our life.
